Find out what’s keeping the Corporate Affairs team busy and all the exciting work taking place behind the scenes.
I started my career in HR 7 years ago within the hospitality industry, working in luxury hotels, private members' clubs and restaurant groups. Having predominantly worked with mid-sized employee bases in long-established businesses, I was interested by RECCo’s start-up mentality and small size which presented the opportunity to build from the ground up.
Having never worked in the energy industry, it was a steep learning curve learning where RECCo fits in but having come recently from a charity who often supported individuals in fuel poverty, I was keen to be a part of a team whose mission is focused on promoting positive consumer outcomes in the retail energy market.
As our team is growing to meet the ambitious plans in the RECCo forward work plan for the years ahead, a current key focus for my role is talent attraction and recruitment. We’ve recently updated our website’s Careers page and will be keeping this up to date with our latest vacancies if anyone is interested in joining the team!
The joy of working in the People and Culture space is the breadth of what it covers which means the work varies from day to day. One day might be writing business proposals focused on how we develop the talent or culture within the company, the next day looking at ways the organisation can work smarter such as the recent roll out of a digital self-serve HR system for our hybrid workforce.
We have a really inclusive and collaborative culture, so protecting that as we grow our team will be really important so we can continue these ways of working.
We’re currently focussing on what it means to be a great place to work, noting that it tends to mean something different for everyone, and so we’re looking at a more flexible approach to our benefits and ways of working to suit the diverse team.
Being a small team at the beginning of our journey is a really exciting place to be. We’re a company built around passionate and knowledgeable people who all have a voice in helping to shape and form the employee experience which makes my role really enjoyable.
Outside the day job, I run a creative small business crafting and selling colourful jewellery, so I’m usually found making new collections or packaging orders.
In my downtime, I enjoy learning Japanese!
