Hello, and welcome to Issue 22 of Inside RECCo. This month, I’m pleased to announce that at RECCo we have achieved our aim of being officially carbon neutral! We’ve been working alongside Positive Planet to measure, reduce and offset our carbon emissions. Click here to read about our work so far and how we plan to continue to manage our emissions in the future. As well as supporting the planet, this month, we talked about supporting our staff members. The 15th May marked International Day of Families, and we chose to celebrate by reminding our team members how we support families at RECCo. Turn to page 4 to learn how we support families through a range of benefits which promote a healthy work-life balance including extended parental leave and a competitive package of other flexible benefits including salary and bonus.
You will know that one of our main programmes of improvement this year is reducing energy theft. Earlier this month, I was delighted to be a guest speaker at Crimestoppers ‘Rewarding Partnerships’ event. Crimestoppers have been hosting the event since 2005 to acknowledge the valuable contributions made to the charity through funding and raising awareness. I was proud to talk about our partnership – together, we’re addressing energy theft and encouraging members of the public to do the right thing and anonymously report suspected theft. On page 5, you can read my speech in full, where I talk about the partnership, the work RECCo is doing to address energy theft and our plans for the future.
I want to highlight the great work of Suchitra Hammond, our Senior Strategy Manager, who has published a paper considering the changes that could be made to the REC and our services to improve the Priority Services Register (PSR) and deliver better consumer outcomes. In her paper, Suchitra proposes that the REC-governed enquiry services could be used to facilitate the more effective sharing of data and move the industry closer towards the ‘Tell Me Once’ principle. We’ve published the paper in full on page 5 and encourage you to submit any feedback to RECCo_Strategy@retailenergycode.co.uk
We have a number of important events coming up in the next few months. Importantly, earlier this month, we invited all of our service users to join us at one of our upcoming workshops in Glasgow, Birmingham, or London, where you can help shape the future of two of the REC Services – the Code Manager and Energy Enquiry Services. You can find out more and register your attendance on page 6.
As always, thank you for reading - please send any feedback or questions to communications@retailenergycode.co.uk
