I began my career in energy at Gemserv, working primarily within in the Master Registration Agreement (MRA) team for over three years. You could say this is where my love of industry code governance began as I keep coming back!
I was responsible for delivering a variety of roles during my time in the team, from market entry and qualification, committee management to managing the MRA change team and the MRA’s end-to-end change management process. Finally, I moved on to more strategic projects on behalf of the MRA Executive Committee (MEC) and MRASCo Board including leading the development of the three year business plan and supporting budget.
In January 2016, I joined ElectraLink to gain a different perspective into the industry. I was responsible for improving the stakeholder experience across all of the codes and arrangements which were being delivered within the Governance Services department and also for the department’s business development pipeline.
Here I worked across a number of different codes and arrangements including the Supply Point Administration Agreement (SPAA), Distribution Connection and Use of System Agreement (DCUSA) and the Smart Meter Installation Code of Practice (SMICoP).
In 2017, I moved away from working at a central code body and joined Utilita, to learn all about the operational side of the energy market and how industry ‘rule books’ are translated into day to day business practices. I was primarily responsible for monitoring and influencing industry change and market reform on behalf of the business, including industry codes and Ofgem's Switching programme.
During my time at Utilita, I was also appointed as a director of MRASCo Ltd, SPAA Ltd and later RECCo Ltd representing the voice of small and medium Suppliers within the market. The experience I’ve gained over the past ten years has provided fantastic insight into what works well and not so well within the energy market and I’m extremely passionate about the vital role code bodies should play.
In addition to providing excellent service standards and value for money to funding parties, code bodies must provide expert and tailored support within their market areas, to simplify industry participants interactions and navigation of market arrangements.
I put this insight into good use during my time on the RECCo Board through leading on behalf of the Board the procurement of the Code Manager service.
This included developing the strategy to move to a best of breed model for the delivery of required Code Manager services and it’s great to see the service taking shape in the early months of operational go-live.
In August 2021 I was delighted to joined RECCo more permanently as the Director of Corporate Affairs.
It is my priority to ensure that we truly understand the needs and wants of our stakeholders, and this is factored into the evolution of all of the services RECCo is responsible for managing and providing strategic oversight of, on behalf of REC Parties.
I live in Hertfordshire with my husband, young daughter, and our mini-lop bunny!
